In March 2022, I launched an AR sculpture, created in Maya and SparkAR, titled New York Nails with XRE (Extended Reality Ensemble) as part of the #MakeUsVisible campaign, an interactive exhibition of gender diverse digital sculptures that are juxtaposed against statues of men across the five boroughs of New York City. New York Nails is dedicated to the undervalued immigrant workers in New York’s nail salon industry. This monument commemorates the predominantly female East Asian nail artists, who work tirelessly in the beauty industry to help others feel seen but are rarely seen themselves. The statue also memorializes the strength of these women and replaces Abraham de Peyster, a former mayor and governor of New York, located near Chinatown.
